Success or Happiness?

“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” We all know that achieving goals is powerful and it affects our success in life. People make it sound so easy to achieve the life of your dreams if only you work hard. However, there are plenty of times you did work hard and you still failed. Success is not an easy feat to accomplish and some people claim that success is just an illusion.

We all want success. We want to be successful and feel successful. We chase money, fame, power, education and a thousand other things without ever stopping to ask one essential question: what is success? Success is basically a goal or goals that people had accomplished. Even so, some people think that they crave for success but in reality they actually want happiness.

The thought of being the best among the best lingers at most of people’s mind. People with mindset like this, tend to always encourage themselves to work even harder to please everyone else. They often neglect their own feelings and problems. They believe that failure is not a reflection of their abilities. Instead, they view it as a valuable source of experience from which, they could learn and improve on.

Success is hugely misconceived because people who are very successful in their work are not really successful if it leads to an unhappy life. The two elements; happiness and satisfaction are both important if you want to complete the achievement you desire. Hence, being successful is very different from being happy.

In conclusion, success is a growth mindset for a person in life. Those who have a growth mindset feel that they can change, grow, and learn through effort. However, for people who thinks that the true meaning of success is ‘happiness’, they should focus on their own feelings more than others.
