Howdy :)
What a wonderful day today (isn’t it always?). And every day like this is a great opportunity to pack it with positive emotions.
According to positive psychology, positive emotions are one of the keys to happiness - dr. Barbara Fredrickson even claims that happy life includes having ratio of 3:1 positive vs. negative emotions, so called Positivity ratio.
She spent the last 20 years researching into following ten emotions:
In her Broaden-and-Build Theory she proposed (and added some pretty compelling evidence to that) that positive emotions makes us more creative and open minded, broaden our thinking, build personal resources, strengthen our connections, make us more resilient and neutralize any negative effects of negative emotions.
How can you build a few more positive emotions today?
There are quite a few ways to enrich our life with positive emotions.
Here are couple of ideas:
- Calming your mind and developing serenity through meditation, especially METTA.
- Developing gratitude and appreciation through reflection on what is enjoyable about our life and day
- Sparkling your life with joy and playfulness by keeping track of what activities and people makes you happy, and then adding on more of those in our busy schedules
- Finding a bit more space for nature, sports and exercise
- Calling a dear friend or a person close to you and checking in with them
And to help you keep all this in mind, I am happy to share with you this infographic to serve as a quick reminder to keep on rocking it’ with building positive emotions in your life.
Wish you a joyful rest of the day, and many positive emotions :)

p.s. I created this visuals for Happiness Academy, my project educating on positive psychology, so bear with me with logo's and colors :))))
Great post. There's always room for more positive emotions! I'll have to take a look at the Happiness Academy. Some of these ideas remind me of the work of Sally Hogshead (author of Fascinate and How the World Sees You). Love the visuals you created. Thanks for sharing!
