👋 Hello Friends 🙂

Take a stroll with me through the woods as I explore different plants and things. I am on a mission to learn about the wild wonders that grow in our world. Perhaps you will also learn something new along the way, or might have something to share that will help me (and others) grow. How cool would that be? Wicked awesome, IMHO.

Let us begin today by getting acquainted with a common beauty in New England that is easily recognizable as a member of the Buttercup Family.

Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquefolia)

This lovely lady likes to appear in loose patches. She can be found early in the spring along woodland borders, in open clearings and in thickets.

With vertical shoots between 2-12 inches high, a single precious white star like flower blooms upon each stem, with 4-9 petal-like sepals (most often occurring with 5).

From what I have read this is NOT a plant you want to go around eating...apparently the toxicity level is very high. With the right Shaman, however, there are medicinal uses to be had. I am not even close to qualified to begin discussing that aspect, so please forgive me for bowing out there.
