2018 was a pretty difficult and often trying year, here are our household. Ironically, even in its last gasps, 2018 seemed to cling to setbacks and screwups.
We were going to go out and eat Chinese for New Year's eve — a tradition we started over a decade ago. And what happened? Our favorite place here in town was closed; not because it was New Year's Eve, but because Monday is their regular closing day. The other Chinese place in town — our back-up choice — was also closed, because the owner has family visiting from Taiwan. Oh well... good intentions, and all that stuff.
We looked at each other and laughed. "How VERY 2018, to end like that!"
Now it's time to go open the champagne and count down the final few minutes till midnight.
2019 is Going to Be an AWESOME Year!

That's some crazy stuff... reminds me of college days and all the liquor stores clustered around the county line between Travis and Williamson counties along I-35.

I can't say i am sorry to see 2018 go. We had a 10 yr or so tradition of sitting beside our campfire and having chicken wings that our ex-neighbors would make. They have since moved on to Prescription Narcotic Zombieland.....

Yeah, here on the US west coast we tend to be pretty much the last ones to do everything. Except for Hawaii... they are even further behind.
