Today is the Birthday of Benjamin Geza Affleck-Boldt he born August 15, 1972 better known as Ben Affleck, is a American actor and filmmaker.

He began his career as a child actor, starring in the PBS educational series The Voyage of the Mimi (1984, 1988). He later appeared in the coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused (1993) and various Kevin Smith films including Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999).

Affleck gained fame when he and childhood friend Matt Damon won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting (1997). He then starred in high-profile films including Armageddon (1998), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001), Changing Lanes (2002) and The Sum of All Fears (2002). After a career downturn, during which he appeared in Daredevil and Gigli (both 2003), Affleck received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Hollywoodland (2006).

• When Affleck asked his mom for a dog as a kid, she made him walk an imaginary one for a week."When he came up two days short, he didn't get a dog," she said in an interview. "That was harsh. It was wise, but harsh."
• Since a young boy, he always wanted to be an actor and his first foray into the business was through a Burger King commercial.
• While on set, he met his life-long friend Matt Damon. He actually lived just 10 blocks away from him.
• He was an extra with friend Matt Damon in Field of Dreams in 1989.
• He appeared in a prop photo used in the movie Mermaids in 1990.
• Charlie Sheen drove him to the rehab center.
• As a young boy, he always loved the Marvel Comic book character Daredevil. He got to play the character in the 2003 movie.
• He was ranked #41 in Premiere's 2003 annual Power 100 List.
• Affleck received $1.5 million dollars for doing commercials for L'Oreal Shampoo in 2003.
