It´s a curious thing to arrange the main show after the main event is over, but in the Czech Republic the fireworks welcoming the new year erupts on the 1 January at 6 p.m. (at noon New York time).

The 11 minute long show cost around a million Czech Crowns (CZK), thousands of people flooded the streets, bridges and the river shores trying to get the best view to enjoy this spectacular show.

Prague has celebrated the 100th anniversary of the independence of the Czechoslovak Republic, which was proclaimed on 28 October 1918. The creators also remembered the Prague uprising in 1945, the Prague Spring in 1968 and the Velvet Revolution in 1989. These historical milestones were all depicted in the fireworks.

The fireworks was accompanied by music such as the Ode to Joy, Bugatti Step and tones of the national anthem.
