Real World cost from the Hard Fork 2.whatever!

That was a problem, especially the bots. I thought the down vote flags, handled that well.

The bots were living large on volume, due to the 0.001 curation award. Remove that award, remove the bots.

You back home now?

No..not until Monday or Tuesday.

Hmmm...how did they remove that .001 award? Can no one now do that? Did they get rid of downvote flags?

No that is all intact, but if they had removed the 0.001 curation award, the bots would die. That is their source of income.

Bot 20,000 times a day, and you made $20....

This would have fixed the bot problem by simply removing their reward. It would not have damaged any real accounts, because it only removes pennies from them, not their actual income.

:D

Hmmm...So I wonder why they didn't just do that...?

They did Not think of it I suspect. This is a planning failure, and is why those who write software need others involved in the planning process.

When you plan in isolation, with only those who solve everything by a software patch, more obvious ways to get the same results are sometimes missed. Software repairs can be more complex than simple changes that could get the same results.

Well said. I remain hopeful, though, that they have the long-term best interests of all Steemians in mind, not just those of the whales.

I think they are trying, they just planned in a vacuum and didn't capture all the real world problems. Now they are trying to address them without another hard fork change.

I just hope the include all the new input they have received in any new solution they work up. They surely understand that whales can't live without plankton....
