Introducing Cold Storage Coins

Hello, we are Cold Storage Coins. Our organization has been designing & manufacturing coins since 2008. I’m here to explain what a Cold Storage Coin is, what it’s used for, and why you should care.

We are passionate about private ownership of money, as I’m sure many of you are as well. Naturally, we are advocates of non-fiat stores of value, including gold, silver, and copper - and cryptocurrencies, of course.

The creation of Cold Storage Coins stems from a disturbing trend in crypto, one that defeats the entire objective of a decentralized and anonymous digital currency. Many users of cryptocurrency opt to store their holdings on exchanges, rather than their own wallets.

Everyone has qualms about these big exchanges, but it is the centralized mass ownership of private keys that is truly disheartening. If crypto is fundamentally different from fiat currencies, why do we still need institutions to “safeguard” our money?

Ease of use is one of the main factors in this trend of centralization. To put it bluntly, the average person does not want to muck around with setting up hot wallets or private keys. They simply want to buy their Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Litecoin and leave it in Coinbase.

Cold Storage Coins mimics the simplicity of an exchange, but with all the security benefits of a personal offline wallet. A Cold Storage Coin is minted from .999 fine copper, silver, or gold with a laser-etched wallet ID and private key. Paper wallets, and other hardware wallets (Ledger/Trezor), can be easily misplaced or destroyed in fires, floods, and natural disasters.

It is the easiest way to own Bitcoin, but it’s also the easiest way to gift Bitcoin. If you are excited about cryptocurrency like we are, you probably find it difficult to explain the concept to older generations or those who are not technically-inclined.

When you show them a Cold Storage Coin, however, they get it immediately. Your 87-year-old grandmother doesn’t understand what a distributed ledger or a blockchain is, but she understands what a silver or gold coin is. She becomes a holder of Bitcoin the moment you hand her the coin.
