Best PC Gaming Power Supplies

You are about to find out how to choose the best pc power supply.

Very often who assembles a computer underestimates this component, saving itself on it, but there is nothing wrong with it.

A poor quality power supply can cause serious problems to the entire system, or make you consume much more power than necessary.

That's why today I will show you the best pc gaming power supplies!

Forget Chinese power supply or poor quality, here's just the best.

Are you ready? Let's start!

How to Choose a Power Supply: The 4 Elements to Consider

As usual, I'm here to guide your choice, and to do this I need to explain the basic parameters to choose the power supply:

  • efficiency
  • certification
  • modularity
  • wattage

We analyze the various parameters.

  1. Efficiency: lose as little energy as possible

Indicates how much extra power it will absorb from your power grid and is expressed as a percentage.

To be more technical, efficiency is the ratio between the power entering the power outlet and the power that is used by the components.

Let me give you an example: your PC is under stress and requires 500W.

With a 500 watt power supply, with an efficiency of 80%, a power of 625W (500 x 80% → 500 x 0.8 = 625) will be absorbed by the household electrical outlet.

Now, since your PC requires 500W and the power outlet has supplied you 625W, the difference between these two powers will be lost.

So, 500W will go to your PC, and the difference (125W) will be lost in heat.

An economic feeder can have this very low value, and this is why low quality power supplies can make you consume too much power, and have more current power bills.

  1. Certification: Choose a power supply that will never leave you

What is Certification of a Power Supply?

The certification, which can be 80 plus, 80 plus bronze, silver, gold, platinum and titanium, is a certificate that attests to the power of the power supply.

To better understand, look here:

If your power supply has a 80 Plus Gold certification, it means that at 20% of the load (when you're little exploiting it) will have an efficiency of 87%

When you are using it in half, it will have 90% efficiency,

Lastly, when I make the most of it, it will have an efficiency of 87%.

Not all power supplies are certified, some have their own efficiency; It's enough to read it among the features.

In fact, an unmanaged power supply may well have good performance, but better to go safe.

Please note that an unreliable power supply may cause reboots under stress.

  1. Modularity: Keep order in your case

Indicates whether a power supply is modular or not.

A modular power supply allows you to connect only the wires you feel necessary, and disconnect unused ones

In this way, you will be able to better align the cables in your PC, keeping everything tidy.

  1. Wattage: it remains at a safe margin

Indicates how much power is capable of delivering the power supply.

I recommend that you do not take a power supply with a wattage just above the consumption of the components.

It's always better to stay in safety.

How do I know how many watts must I have my power supply?

Before you buy a power supply, it's good that you know how much power your components consume.

To find out, there are two possible solutions:

From the technical specifications of each component, obtain power consumption (even under stress), sum up and choose a suitable power supply.
Use the OuterVision Power Supply Calculator tool (http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator). Select the various components, and calculate the power consumption.
N.B: It is not a 100% reliable tool, so do not ship out.

In my case, for example, the power consumption according to the instrument is 386W, but I still have a 500W power supply, always to stay in a safe margin.

Seasonic SS-1050 XP €250
Questi alimentatori sono riservati alle configurazioni da 1500 euro in poi circa; Alimentatori ancora più potenti sono richiesti solo nel caso in cui ci siano più schede video e dove alcuni componenti sono overcloccati.

CONCLUSIONS

The power supply is one of the latest components to choose from, because before doing so you need to know the power consumption of your components.

In doing so, the field narrows. Then you get to know the efficiency concept well, and once I understand, I'm sure you'll know how to adjust yourself on choosing.

"Is it better a modular food or not?"

Certainly, in some cases, a modular power supply is more comfortable as it allows you to better manage wiring, but if you can do it you can
Be able to keep the cables ordered even with a non-modular power supply.
