It has always been a thrill knowing about paranormal activities. We have always tried to get some hints of things or activities that are other-worldly. There are many of such ghostly appearances and instances noted across the globe from time immemorial. Here, you will get a glance of seven such haunted places in Australia. Read on to get a chill down your spine.
1. Victoria- The Old Melbourne Gaol
The place, built around the mid of 19th century, was a keep-place of many of the top criminals of the country. Such a criminal, Ned Kelly as well as some other 130 convicts were executed here. This gained the building the title of being haunted by the spirits of those who were executed there. However, no trace of Ned Kelly’s acclaimed ‘ghostly presence’ was found by any of the ghost hunters, except for some paranormal activities detected and documented by some of the parapsychologists.
2. New South Wales- The Monte Cristo
Pretty renowned as one the most haunted houses in Australia, the place has got a disturbing story. It is claimed that a young boy was burnt alive. Also, there is a story of a young girl being pushed out downstairs by some mysterious ‘force’.
3. New south Wales- Manly Quarantine Station
Seems like New South Wales has pretty much of ghosts wrapped in it. The story goes back to early 19th century when the station was built to prevent the diseases from the ‘diseased-ships’ arriving in Australia. Many of those who were forced to stay over the place had a poor death and their souls are believed to haunt the place now.
4. Victoria- Princess Theatre
The place is said to be haunted by Frederick Federici’s spirit, who was claimed to be dead by the end of an opera, from a heart attack that he suffered while sinking down dramatically on the stage’s trapdoor. The cast reported of noticing him taking bows at the end, though he had never returned back on stage.
5. Victoria- Beechworth Asylum
The history of this Asylum states of over three thousand patients dead in here. So their sould are believed to haunt the Asylum.
6. Picton- Redback Range Railway Tunnel
The tunnel is believed to be haunted by the spirits of the people who have ended their lives there. Many paranormal activities has been reported here, like shadowy structures, mysterious lights etc.
7. Queensland- Devil’s Pool
The natural pool, having killed some seventeen people, is one of the most treacherous pools across globe. Local legends claim that a young lady had ended her life there, being depressed from a love tragedy. It is said that the woman haunts the place and lures people, especially men to death. Swimming around the region is quite discouraged here.
I don't believe in haunted places and ghosts. (Although I do understand how the myths came to be out of basic human fear and superstition).
In large houses and especially at night, our ears are more sensitive and echoes might start appear as real voices. Our eyes start playing tricks. Delusions take over in some people and before you know it, you get "ghosts".
