A strange girl who is currently appearing in a cemetery in Çorum, Turkey almost every night and is frightening the whole city, is currently dominating the Turkish media.

The strange activities began in April 2018. At around 11:00 pm the citizens of Çorum were woken up by loud cries. It sounded as if someone was suffering from severe pain and therefore crying bitterly. Some residents called the police, others tried to find out where the screams came from.

Screams coming from the cemetery

It quickly became clear that the screams came from the cemetery. There they discovered a girl sitting in front of a grave crying. The witnesses estimated her age between 15 and 18 years. The unknown girl wore a black dress and red shoes. Cemetery workers tried to talk to the girl, but as soon as they approached, she disappeared without a trace. The cemetery was thoroughly searched by the police, but the girl did not reappear.

The next night at the same time, the eerie events repeated. Again, the girl sat in front of the same grave, woke the residents with their loud screams and disappeared without a trace when they tried to contact them.

Because there were no other hints, the police now examined the grave where the girl had sat and mourned. The inscription on the tombstone testified that a woman who died in 1982 at the age of 70 was buried here. In the subsequent investigation, no living relatives could be found.

The unknown, grieving girl could not know the deceased woman. For that, the girl would have to be at least 50 years old. But she was at most 18 years old.

On the third night, as the events repeated again, the police did not manage to catch the crying girl. From this point, the Turkish press began to report about the case. The interest in the story was huge. Viewers and news channels suspected that the girl might be the ghost of the woman buried there. Other theories suggest that it could be the deceased daughter.

The spirit answers

So that the story is still not over. The police glued a sticky note to the tombstone. The message was: Can we help you somehow? The mourning girl then stuck her own notes several times to the tombstone. Her message was always the same: You can help me. But she never wrote in what ways her can be helped.

The police then monitored the cemetery much more intensively. There were also more and more spectators. One night more than 150 of them were said to have been present. From this point, the avalaible information is vague. Some witnesses say that the girl never showed up again. Others say that the girl still haunts. She just did not show up in the night where so many onlookers gathered.

The cemetery workers still do not believe that the girl is a ghost. They assume that it is a drug addict. But if that's true - why did the girl always appear at exactly the same time? Why does she mourn at the grave of a person she can not possibly know? And how does she manage to escape the police when she is intoxicated with drugs?
