In Hawaii outrigger canoe paddling is one of the sports that juniors are participating in. There are lots of clubs that train and enter races. Outrigger canoeing and canoe racing have become popular and also the teaching of the Hawaiian practice of ocean navigation and canoe construction.
Here are some boys carrying their canoes from Ala Moana Beach Park to Ala Wai Harbor. They help carry all the canoes first, then their coach talks to them before they start practice. It teaches how to work together, cooperation, and respect for the ocean.
