This is the recipe featured this month by our local electricity company. It looks good. It's like an upgraded sweet sour ribs you order in Chinese restaurants.
5 pounds spareribs, in 1-1/2 inch pieces
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 large onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
1 20-ounce can pineapple chunks, with liquid
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2-1/2 tablespoons water
In a large pot, combine spareribs, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce and garlic. Cover and bring to a boil, then simmer 45 minutes. Add onion, bell pepper and pineapple. Cook 15 more minutes. Combine cornstarch and water; stir into sparerib mixture. Cook until mixture thickens. Serves 8.
