Thanks! The big island is for sure worth a few trips. Somewhere on the coast of Texas is on my list of places I'd like to visit next. But I don't know exactly where to go, because it's just so big.

Invasive ginger on Kilauea
I live in Corpus Christi. It used to be a nice place but lately it just looks like a landfill. Corpus is the end of the road. Nothing to do and nowhere to go. Nothing but miles and miles of beach. If you make it this way I'd recommend visiting the Padre Island National Seashore just to get as far away as possible from people. The beach is nice down there. You can drive down a few miles on the beach and pretty much have the place to yourself. South Padre is a lot more touristy with a lot more restrained, motels, shops, and the like. Here is an image of where I woke up after returning from Hawaii. I parked the car and slept right there on the beach. It was nice to be back home in the sand.![padre sunrise.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXYha6s9w2ACcbTa8Av3p2ARYLcdLqRongM7saaxqpZcX/padre%20sunrise.jpg)
