The state of Hawaii to be renamed "West California" ?

If all goes according to plan, the state of Hawaii will be receiving an unprecedented face lift - at least superficially - to become fully realized by the year 2027 according to sources. Even as California itself will split into two separate entity states, that being "North California" and "South California", the state of Hawaii will join the California clan as "West California" thereby completing it's fold into the continental United States of America. In addition to it's state name change, it is estimated that over ninety percent of all current place names in the state will also be changed. The cost of this ambitious effort is estimated to be upwards of $16.7 billion dollars but could in fact escalate even higher if unforeseen obstacles arise. There is the hope that costs can be kept down if significant volunteer effort materializes to assist authorities during transition. Colonialism played a key role in it's (Hawaii) early development, yet as those who sit on the transition team have stated, " . . . we're clearly beyond the point of gleaning benefit from archaic antiquated systems that served purposes no longer required". Originally known as "Sandwich Islands" - Hawaii became important in the 18th and 19th centuries as a trading center for pacific shipping. This in turn fueled the need for cheap reliable contract workers who were brought in from the far ends of the globe. The result of this was the creation of a creole culture with rudimentary capability to communicate - giving rise to what became famous as the "pigeon" dialect. Being only to the discern of insiders, this unusual dialect obstensively carried over even until 20th century. As the modern era arrived, roads, factories, buildings, even neighborhoods were constructed. Nearly all were known by names given in the dialect. However, after the First World War, the problem started to become evident. Few could recount what any given utterance possibly meant? The "wicky-wacky-wooh" kind of mutterings made practically no sense to anyone. Tourists are bewildered and sometimes intimidated by unorthodox appearance of street signs and public and private place names. Persons constantly confused about the phonetic spellings of things pronounced significantly different in their usage. "I'm glad to see that we're finally getting to a place past all this", a spokesperson reiterated. "This is America - and we speak American here. Its high time the place names, street signs, and general orthography of the place reflect this fact". The project has few opponents, but some argue that the cost outweighs it's price tag. An oversight committee is currently involved in selection of names for key places and landmarks. Apparently, a famous landmark of antiquity known as "Diamond Head", which is actually an extinct volcano, will not be subject to a name update. The same is true also of a large harbor known as "Pearl" which was attacked by Japanese military at the beginning of World War Two.
