I travel the world #325: Pearl Harbor Historic Sites

Pearl Harbor

I have been to Hawaii many times but I did never go to Pearl Harbor. I was just too busy finding the best restaurants and beach spots. This time I decided to visit Pearl Harbor as I am interested in the History of Pearl Harbor. It was interesting to see real torpedoes as you can't guess the real size of these from movies.

Before I arrived at Pearl Harbor Google Maps took me on a detour and I ended up at the entry of a Navy Base 10 miles away from the historical site. The Soldier on duty at the gates started laughing and told me that I am way off and told me the way to Pearl Harbor

Japan attacked the USA on December 7, 1941 in a surprise attack. That act shocked the USA and lead to the declaration of war against Japan and caused the USA to enter World War II. I hope that one day the whole world is a peaceful place to live and that everybody can live a peaceful life.

Have you been to Pearl Harbor ???

Greatest tragedy of human lives in the history of diplomacy. So many innocent and not informed soldiers slaughtereted that day. RIP to all those who died there. Its a reminder for the future. Thanks for posting.

it is just one of many attacks which were not necessary

Now I do become really really jealous – Pearl Harbour, Hawaiii – last week Asia – man you must be a lucky guy! When will you invite me for some joined trip in business class style? A great post, historic scenes – I need to go there too! Have a great weekend @knozaki2015

haha ;) we will meet one day in munich

I do hope so....

Nope. Looks like very interesting place.

@knozaki2015 Thanks for sharing your Pearl Harbor experience and great photos. I'm an avid traveller and Australian war history buff however Pearl is somewhere I have always wanted to go also. It was a pivotal point in the Second World War and for the United States it marked the loss of innocence. I am about to post about the Kokoda Campaign in Papua New Guinea where Australia fought the Japanese. I have been there, trekked the Kokoda Trail, and will post some images also.

Thanks a bunch for sharing.

please post your link once you wrote it in comments. I will hhave a looK!

No, I have not been to Pearl Harbour, yet.
The history must be fascinating!

indeed . you feel the history

Pearl Harbor is a great reminder to us that war is so costly in terms of human lives and that we have to stop all this destruction and madness. Although this was a great tragedy, I also think that what was done to Hiroshima and Nagasaki was also bad and in some ways worse because so many women, children and innocent people were killed. The World Trade Center attack also was unfortunate for the cost to many innocent people. I could go on and on but essentially all killing is so meaningless. Hopefully, one day, we will learn to all get along and live with acceptance and peace. Thank-you for sharing your Pearl Harbor experience with us. I have been there and it has left an indelible mark on me. Thank-you @knozaki2015.

I agree that we are all responsible to stop the killing . it does not make sense

I have been there long long ago (when I was a kid). It is always a strange feeling to visit those memorial showing how humans can get crazy and do bad things. Unfortunately, that's human nature too...

yes. wars are so stupid

What a great historic place to see. I agree, peace everywhere around the world will be an amazing thing.
