A report on the recovery WD10EAVS

in hdd •  7 years ago

Hard drive WD10EAVS sent with a request to restore information - pictures, which are on the disc was loaded, according to the client, but it is 1TB, but had yet to reach.

Hard was not determined neither in the system nor in BIOS.

A cursory initial inspection determined the presence of solder in a different place to us. Changed two chokes, which are often mistaken for protective, following a video from youtube, by analogy with the old Samsung drives.

Often replacement of the elements is not linked to the need and made according to the principl

After ringing out the key elements and connect the hard to the pocket, the answer was silence. Hard didn't even try to spin.

Further options the most obvious two: either it is a wedge of a spindle, or broken SMOTH or Twister and let's say a percent or something in the harness).

Tossing cost of the donor and not nearly like the need (so I usually check the Twister, Yes, sloppy, I know). Hard immediately responded and even snapped a couple of times, after which I immediately turned off.

Replacing SMOTH known-good, it's time to find out if the fee otherwise. And not dead if preamplifier followed by the driver. But fortunately client the driver and one small capacitor, which I wasn't 100% sure and was replaced, all was fine.

After a few hours of testing the surface to make sure it is perfect condition and after the prevention of BMG, send the drive to the owner.

Happy Ending
