Google has launched it's premier wireless headphones featuring real-time language translation from Google Translate.
The headphones, called Google Pixel Buds, connect to an Android or Ios, connecting to the voice-manage Google Assistant to make phone calls, play music or even understand another language.
Google announced the Pixel Buds beside a host of new device at an event in San Francisco, including two new smartphones, a laptop and upgrades to its smart Google Home speakers.
The language translation software empowers users to both listen to and speak in international languages using their smartphone. For listening services, holding down the earbud will change another language into the user's preferred language.
Rival companies have developed real-time translation technology, such as Translate One2One, but this is the first attempt by a major company to bring the tech to the mainstream market.
The Pixel Buds won’t need you to touch a button to begin Assistant, preferably you swipe over the edge of the right earbud or tap it for music controls.
The fabric loop should grip the headphones connected to your head and Google claims you can get five hours of use per charge.
Google also made a jab at Apple, saying ‘we don’t set out better characteristics for the bigger device’, before highlighting how easy they have made it transfer data from an iPhone to a Pixels phone.
However, Google has followed Apple in eliminating the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Pixel 2 phone.
The case the Pixel Buds come in also acts as a charger which can supply up to 24 hours of juice.
The Google Assistant and Earbuds will initially support 40 languages and starts at £159 in the UK with a release date on November 22.
