Mudras - The energetic pills at the touch of a finger

Whenever we speak about mudras we have the image of painted hands, yoga and India in our minds. This is a pretty accurate image because that's where they are originated. The name of mudra comes from Sanskrit and could be translated as "sign". A mudra is actually a position of our hands, in particular the fingers, which aims to release and redirect our energy in the body in order to heal it or just have an overall good state of being. Lets take a look at some simple and very effective mudras that can help us improve our health and make us feel better physically and mentally.

Gyan mudra, the mudra of knowledge

Being the mudra of knowledge it is easy to figure it out that by practicing it everyday our capacity of learning and acquiring knowledge will be increased. It can be practiced in any position , standing or laying in bed and has no indicated practice duration. It is said to increase the power of concentration, memory and fight against insomnia.
It is very helpful for the ones suffering from anger and depression also.

Prithvi mudra

It is also called the mudra of the ground. Prithvi mudra is very indicated for the ones that are underweight helping them in gaining weight. It also improves the skin texture and makes it shine. As in the case of Gyan mudra it can be practiced as long as you want and in almost any position.

Shunya mudra

It is the mudra of the emptiness. It helps reducing sadness and laziness and it can be practiced 40-60 minutes a day. People suffering from ear ache will benefit also from practicing this mudra for 5-10 minutes.

Surya mudra

Surya in Sanskrit is the name of the Sun thus this mudra will connect us with the energy of the sun. It is recommended to be practiced 5-15 minutes a day helping in reducing cholesterol and loosing weight. It helps calming anxiety and healing digestive problems when practiced with consistency.

Prana mudra

Prana is the name of the energy of life. No being could exist with out the prana. When practicing this mudra the weak become stronger and feel more energized. It also strengthens our immune system and reduces fatigue. The sight may benefit also from practicing Prana mudra every day.

Apana mudra

Apana mudra is the sign that helps in healing digestive and excretion problems. Practiced for 45 minutes daily will help the ones suffering from hemorrhoids and constipation. It is also very helpful for balancing blood sugar levels.

The mudras presented in this article are not any treatment replacements and no one is advised to quit their medicine and just practice mudras for healing. They come as an energetic supplement for the ones in suffering or whoever wants to just feel better or boost their energy level. Being that simple to practice everyone can give them a try.

Thanks for share! If you try them they are strong but not easy to do and to hold. Normally we see the photos and supose they are easy and sometimes not important but they are one of the pilars for Yoga practice. They are explain in the most important Yoga books, like Hatha Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita.

Nothing is easy, but if you want to improve something you make an effort.

Very informative. I have heard of mudras but haven't actually looked into them yet. I will definitely have to look into this more. Thank you for sharing @acesontop
