The alarm buzzed through my dreams and I groped around blindly for my phone. I looked at the time and it was 7:10am."Jeez" I muttered as I sauntered to the bathroom and hurriedly prepared to attend the 8am class. I barely had three hours of sleep the previous night and I was sure I'd be very unproductive. I managed to go through the first two hours of lectures without taking down any notes. How could I? I WS sleep-starved!!!
Three hours of clinic with three superiors and over fifteen patients seemed like eternity. I tried presenting a patient to a superior and I got corrected over something I knew offhand..and again and again. I could sense my superior was getting frustrated,but so was I. Everything seemed hazy and I couldn't even get a grip of what I was doing.
Finally,it was over. I was back at the hostel and hurriedly rummaged through my bag to get my keys. I fell flat on the bed as soon as I got in...
Here I am,four hours later,fully conscious, alert and well oriented in time and place. I'm wishing I could go back and make the same presentation,I'm sure I'd have gotten better grades for it. I feel totally refreshed. Well,I guess I've had a practical experience on the importance of sleep.
