Resveratrol.
Is red wine good or bad to drink? Obviously in excess alcohol can take a toll, but resveratrol is the key compound that is giving wine its benefit. Found in the skins of red grape’s there are also other foods containing resveratrol, which is a protective plant compound made by these foods. Blueberries, other dark berries, red wine, dark chocolate, and pistachios are all power houses containing resveratrol, also knot weed extract is a great source.
There is a lot of science out there on the benefits of resveratrol, the skeptics will say that there have been no studies on humans in regards to the benefits. Here is a study that shows just by eating grapes the chances of colon cancer were reduced in a group of 30 people. ((15)) Also another study shows chemo preventative properties after giving various dose ranges to mice, the only side effect observed was gastrointestinal, but the dosing was deemed safe.((16))
These are great studies and there are many more like it but the real significance here is how resveratrol may protect against cancer, but at the same time has protective cardiovascular properties too! Name me a drug on the market that could potentially address the two biggest killers in the United States today. The science is pointing toward this being the case, so why isn’t this plastered all over the news?
Getting back to the cardiovascular study. Resveratrol therapy was given to rodents who had been exposed to cigarette smoke, the results were anti-inflammatory, and reduced oxidative stress.((17)) Then the key word of both of those outcomes put together was anti-aging. This all from a compound derived from red grapes, knot weed, and dark berries. Folks this is a 2 for 1 if I have ever seen it. Imagine the prevention that can take place if you were ingesting resveratrol while living a healthy lifestyle?! Preventative anti-aging, yes please.
There is one authority on the subject of anti-aging and she has been helping women lose weight, control hormones, anti-age, and all of the other benefits that have come out of her research, and life experiences. Her name is Naomi Whittel. She has authored a book called Glow15 which I have personally bought for more women than I could count on both hands. This book is tailored toward women and I’ve read it (I’m a guy if you didn’t know) and I’m following her practices as well. Look her up!
