Being a member of the older generation i grew up among a lot of the old ways and customs that were every day life occurrences and experiences, many some may say that they have no use in today's world and i guess some of them may not?
One of those ways /custom's was the adorning and wearing of the metal copper, in form of rings bracelets bands earings etc, and in my opinion it is as useful today as it as always has been.

As a child one of the most vivid memories of my now departed mother was her suffering of the crippling disease of arthritis, her painful disjointed fingers elbows ankles and feet some days so deformed and swollen looked like she had some biblical form of leprosy, how she coped with it begged belief but cope she did and to bring up no less than nine children, a modest family size in those days.

What helped in a big way to alleviate her pain and swelling was here arm/wrist bands and finger rings she wore all the time and she swore by them and if you do the research it is plain to see why, most of these circulatory problems and diseases like arthritis gout etc, are caused by a deficiency and this deficiency in these cases is the lack of copper, by wearing items close to the skin made of this metal this essential mineral we all need, will be absorbed naturally through the skin with its interaction with the sweat and acidity and in the way that will not cause an over dosage.

Copper is one of the oldest metals first used by humans to make tools spears arrows and everyday utensils, some of the oldest axe heads ever found are made of copper from what was known as the bronze age going back at least to 25.000 years ago, it has been said from research that it was highly prized by ancient civilization like the early Egyptians, and the high priests and pharoah's wealth was measured by how much they held in there possession, whatever? to think they never new the health benefits it had would seam nonsensical to say the least.

Getting on a bit as i have mentioned, age as they say does not come alone! and like most, i have a few health problems that go with it, so what was good for those ancient Egyptian's and my dear old mom is good enough for me and have taken on the wearing of this what i would call precious metal copper, below is a picture a few of my home made ring bangle and mini penanula fastening's i have cobbled together out of some old copper earth wire from old power leads i had, not quite tiffany's lol but it does the job and its a fun thing to do plus.. i wanted something that represents where i am from and its culture, i hope it shows in my kind of saxon/viking designs?
