How easy it is to eat healthy here in Sarawak.

If you're an American or European, you can't believe how cheap it is to eat healthy here where I am.

Hey Steemians!

There's really no excuse to not keep a healthy lifestyle if you're living in a developing country. Especially when you live in a small town like I do where many people are still making money off the land farming and caring for orchards. In case you don't know I live in the beautiful island of Borneo in the state of Sarawak.

Just go to any farmers market (not supermarket or stores mind you). And you can get a couple healthy bunch of bananas like I did.

Remember one protip, black patches on a banana means GOOD. You do not want smooth yellow bananas with perfect unblemished skin. It's not natural, God knows what chemicals have been put in to keep the banana that way.

And do you know how much it cost for the 2 beautiful bunch of bananas? In our local Malaysian currency it's 2 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). plug that into Google and guess what.

That's how much my breakfast for the next 2 days will cost. It's nutritional, packed with energy, and you get cheap detox out of it. Especially useful seeing that it's Fasting Month around these parts.

Which reminds me of something said by entrepreneur Bobby Casey in the James Altucher Show.

“Americans don’t understand how insanely expensive it is to live in the U.S.,”

With Steem and the Internet, geological boundaries has lost much of its grip and restrictions because it's easier and easier to be a global citizen. Make first-world salary, spend third-world money. I have the (Mis)fortune to have the latter, now all I have to focus on is to achieve the former.

If you are already making money unbounded by locality, why not consider moving to a cheaper country! I can already think of our very own @hilarski and @samstonehill who will not only agree to what I mean, but are also living examples who will tell you the same thing!

I'm @awesomianist Stay awesome.

Wow that's amazingly cheap. Why are they a strange shape though?

This is the small variety and not usual Cavendish banana in the US. There are literally hundreds of variety here alone being cultivated and thousands in the wild. Bite sized and easy to peel!

LoL Every time I hear the word Sarawak it remember one of my favorite childhood movies :-)

Talking about the topic, fresh and biological food is a great resource for health. This is a luxury not of many populations in the world including here us in Italy mostly caused by very stupid politicians choices.

Never about Emilio Salgari and his artwork! Wow! But of course. The history here isn't as romantic as depicted in the stories.

If you can earn a US or EU equivalent wage and live in Malaysia... freedom :))

That's my end goal, at least something along the line. Steemit is just making it easier for me to start. Exciting times ahead for every steemians!

Same here in Cambodia... local markets are so cheap and no pesticides or other chemicals sprayed on fruits and vegs. feeling so blessed!

Yes we are! Now if we can make money now bound to where we live. That's the way to live!

True that! Have been working online for the past 5 years of which 2.5 years living in Cambodia!

Thank you for the refreshing perspective! It's easy to be US- centric as an American. :)

It tends to happen. No worries, with the Internet and now Steemit, you get to see plenty of non-US centric stories and facts around the world.
