The Power Of Honey

in health •  7 years ago

Many people rely on pills to take care of their ailments.  I am not a fan of medication, but both of my children have taken allergy medicine for quiet some time now .  In an attempt to rid them of their dependency on allergy meds, I decided to study up on some natural remedies and proceeded to read anything and everything I could find about the subject.  Throughout my reading, I found multiple online articles that touted the power of honey and decided it was time to give it a try.  Each article stated that raw honey is a natural remedy for allergies, and that the more local the source the better it would work.  I have a neighbor across the street who raises honey bees so I figured that would be as local a source as I could get for honey. Upon brining home the first bottle, I began having my kiddos eat a spoonful of honey every other day.  To my surprise....It really has worked.

Neither of my children have had to take any allergy pills whatsoever since I started them on the honey.  I'm not claiming to have a lot of medical knowledge, but I do know that taking the medicines that are pushed by big pharma is not a healthy choice.  Drug dependency is no way to live!  Like I stated, everything I could find stated that the more local the source, the better the results would be and I have not been disappointed.  If you or anyone you know relies on allergy medication to get relief, give locally harvested raw honey a try....you may be amazed at the results!

Thanks for sharing this. I never thought of this. My youngest has so many allergies with frequent nosebleeds and has to have medicines. I have seen the bee pollen in our local grocery store as well as the honey. If you could raise them for your own fresh honey it might be better, I'm allergic so sadly I cannot. Thanks agin for sharing this, definitely going to try this.

You are welcome...I hope it works as good for you and your children as it has for us!
Thanks for checking out my post!

Well I tried it with my youngest but he will not agree to try it. He does not like honey, so I will have to be creative on incorporating the honey in for him. "Stealth mode engaging". :)

Get some bees, make your own honey. So much fun and it's like printing money.

I'm thinking you may be right about that! My dad raises bees....guess I'll be learning all I can about the subject....The honey has had amazing results for my kids.....

So great that you have a neighbor so close with fresh honey!! Have you read about bee pollen? My husband and I use local bee pollen intermittently for allergies (although we're not consistent enough with it to make a full difference I don't think.) It's great in yogurt, smoothies, salads, etc.

I will have to do some research and check it out...
Where do you get bee pollen?
Thanks for reading my post!

I found it at a local farm market where they sold honey. It was from bees at least within my county. Maybe you can pinpoint it to your location even better!

I agree with you on the big pharma! I'm so happy the honey is working for your children. I started taking a spoonful of honey everyday last fall and I haven't had any allergy symptoms since! I'm lucky to have a local beekeeper nearby that I buy honey from. Every week I buy a pint. I use honey to sweeten teas, cook with, and it doesn't go bad! Just can't go wrong 🍯

You are right.... honey has a lot of great uses....It's great on sweet potatoes and I even use to sweeten my coffee from time to time! Mother natures natural sweetener....
Thanks for checking out my post!

O I never tried it on sweet potatoes before. I'll be trying that!

I concur with you. Honey is very healthy
