Terrible Pain

in health •  8 years ago  (edited)

I've lived almost 22 years. Over half my life I've lived with chronic back pain. It started in my lower back, then gradually moved up my spine to my middle back and shoulders and neck. Some days it's not so bad, hell some weeks it's not so bad, then other weeks, or days, like these my back pain controls my life.

You wouldn't be able to tell from the outside...

It's hard to sleep, it hurts to lift things or do any serious physical work. It's never to the point of where I can't walk, or I'm in unbearable pain, and I guess for other worse other situations I'm grateful for that, that I'm still able to walk and move. Others may not be that fortunate.
But my pain can make me cry, and not want to do anything. It takes so much life and happiness from me. I have anxiety which the pain makes worse, and vice versa.
I'm 21 and I'm sick of back pain.
This is kind of a post where I was looking to write my frustrations down, but also I'm looking for helpful words and tips.
I have degenerative disk disease. There's nothing for it other than physical therapy, and exercise to stay strong.

Comment any ideas and tips! Thanks for reading my post!

Much love,
Bekka.

Sorry for your pain. I use high CBD marijuana. It is legal in Cali and works. It is not easy to find but works for my arthritis. My doctor gives me vicodin but it only makes me feel worse. Good luck

I'm thinking of using CBD oil without the high effects I've heard good things and it's legal here in FL and NY. Thank you!

Thats whats cool about medical marijuana, I think with the proper research the cannabis plant will prove to the masses what a gift it is. Concentrates and vape all the way.

I definitely don't think the kind of back pain I had was the same as yours, so my advice might not help and you may likely be aware of it already..
But when I was younger I used to do a lot of martial arts and gymnastics and stuff and I threw my back out quite a bit.

Inversion is one thing that seemed to help a lot, but be careful.. Cause it can make it worse if you're not careful.

Swimming is something that I think helped a lot, cause you can stretch and exercise in a more gravity free type of environment where there's not as much gravitational stress.

And last.. This one worked well for me anyways.. Though.. I'm glad I don't do it anymore cause I enjoy sleeping in my bed now, lol.. But.. Sleeping on the floor used to help me a lot as well..

I think those 3 things plus like just regular stretching and massage, but as I said! You probably know these things already or they might not be helpful because your condition is different.. But thought I'd mention that anyways! Good luck!

Swimming does help my back pain! It's just when I get to go that's the problem. Between work and travel it's not always easy, massages are always nice! Lol and I've never tried laying on the floor, I seriously might try it!! Thank you for input!

You're welcome. Sleeping on the floor probably helped me the most.. I dunno what it was.. Something about the "springs" in the beds I think, prevents us from sleeping right.. The springs in mattresses causes a lot of people a lot of back pain and I think that's what it was for me, but I'm not positive.. I am positive it helped though. It pretty much solved my problem and I don't need to sleep on the floor anymore, but maybe some day again! Lol..

Also.. If swimming doesn't work cause you don't have access.. Another thing you may want to consider is a small rebounder or small trampoline.. You can get a similar effect with some exercises on the tramp, it's not the same as swimming clearly which works a lot more.. But it helps reduce and counteract the gravitational impact and stress.

Wow what a cool idea. I'll try these out and do a post hopefully about " how my back pain got better" thank you so much!

Hopefully! :) And you're welcome. I hope any of it helps you in any way.

Check out John E. Sarno. He is a lower back pain specialist that Howard Stern kudos to the max. My dad is convinced that if one can spread their toes for 5 minutes with no strain you'd be in tip top physical shape. Initially it was impossible for him but after 10 years he says he feels light and fluffy all over.

Hmmm that's really interesting, I'll look into him. I'd like to feel light and fluffy all over ! Haha thank you!!

I'm not a doctor and don't like giving advice but I hate seeing people in pain. Have you tried this:

My friend had a damaged disk and it seem to help.Best of luck and God bless. I up-voted your story for what it's worth.

Wow thank you! I'm going to look into it! Anything that could possibly help is so appreciated! Thank you so much!
