I read today an article about a challenge called the no smoking month.
Launched yesterday in france, it's the third edition since 2015. Every november this challenge regroup all smokers who want to stop cigarettes.
This year, 213.000 person joined the challenge through a site where they find all the encouragement they need by specific programes and mails sent during the month to support them.

They are also invited to join some specific Facebook groups to share their experience with other challengers and help each others.
Being the third editions, many of ancient challengers come now to share their stories and experience to stop tobacco.
Thats gives more hope to smokers and makes their goal more real and easy to achieve.

Immediate health benefits

To understand why it's a one month challenge you must know that:
Even if the number of cigarettes smoked each day and the period of smoking is high, stopping smoking is followed by immediate benefits for the ex-smoker.

  • 20 min after finishing the last cigarette,
    blood pressure and heart rate return to normal
  • After 8 hours, the amount of carbon monoxide in the blood decreases by half and allows the cells to regain normal oxygenation.
    Indeed, this poisonous gas formed by the combustion of cigarettes is able to bind to the hemoglobin of red blood cells in place of oxygen, which causes a decrease in oxygenation of cells.
  • After 24 hours, the body is clean of nicotine.
  • After 2 days, the ex-smoker will be able to breath more easily.
  • two weeks later, the risk of a heart attack start to decrease.
    and to feel all the benifits the ex-smoker must maintain his efforts for 3 months.
  • then, cough and tieredness will regress, and the breath comes back.

as i said this challenge exist now in france, but i hope it will be popular and attend all the world.
and like there's the pink october, we will do the no smoking november.
notice that cigarettes don't affect you only but your environment too .
that's why, thousends of people dies every year because of lung cancer. and some of them are not smokers.
i hope from my post i will attend some people who will support this idea and make the dream become true.

What a wonderful challenge! Smoking is one of the biggest modifiable risk factors in health. There are so many negatives to smoking, and so many benefits to quitting. Hopefully, if they are able to quit for a month they can stay away from it. Thanks for sharing ♥
