It can seem like you will never lose weight. People often start out with a lot of motivation, which they lose as time goes by, and the effort becomes more taxing. Why do others succeed? There are people who have been successful in losing weight and have kept it off. How does someone lose weight and manage to keep it off?
First, you need to identify why you want to lose weight. This will help you set specific goals. What do you want out of your weight loss plan? Do you want to run a marathon, or maybe just some charity running events? Are you trying to get to a certain weight? Is health your main goal?
Make sure to log your progress on a weekly basis. It's a good idea to keep a journal and to weigh yourself at least once per week. You should also make a diary of the food you consume daily. Writing down what you are eating will make you more conscious of what you eat.
If you let yourself get hungry, you will begin to think with your tummy rather than your head. To avoid being faced with the dilemma of making bad food choices, make sure to pack healthy and nutritious foods when you leave the house. It's a lot better to bring your lunch to work or school, than to eat in a restaurant or the cafeteria. When you bring your lunch, you have complete control over your calorie consumption. Additionally, you will avoid the temptations you might face in a restaurant. When you pack snacks or lunch, you protect both your wallet and your waistline.
The key to losing weight and keeping it off is to eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and exercise daily. For some people, adhering to a healthy eating plan is easy, although they may find that sticking to an exercise schedule can be a little more difficult. There are lots of ways to make exercise easy and fun. Just find some workout videos or physical activities you enjoy or get together with a workout buddy! Mix socializing with exercise! Find a friend to take for a walk or to join you in your exercise class.
If your kitchen is filled with junk food and unhealthy snacks, it can be hard to resist eating them. This works the other way around, though: keeping your home filled with healthy foods means you will go for them first. Be sure to have plenty of healthy options available, such as veggies, fruits and nutritious snacks. Stop buying junk food! This is the simplest way to make sure you won't eat it, which is especially helpful when you can't resist it. Once you replace the junk food with healthier options, then you'll be more likely to make healthy food choices.
See if you can find someone to workout with. If we think no one is paying attention, it can be easy to make excuses and put off our exercising. Working out with friends helps keep you motivated to keep going, especially when you start feeling fatigued or discouraged. Friends help by giving support and motivation.

Thanks for this article @blackybabies. I have been struggling with losing weight for many may years. I still struggle. The easiest part of the journey to me is deciding why I want and need to lose thee weight. The hardest part is actually staying on task. I've tried counting the calories an logging food an all of that but even those seemingly simple things become a chore. I personally feel that my biggest problem is that my everyday life is so routine and so hum-drum I want so desperately to break myself out of my routine, but it is just so hard to do that because I feel that I have so little time to do what I need to do for me.
I feel that the most important thing in this article for me is the fact that you mentioned having a partner that you can work out with, etc. That mutual motivation is the key in my view. Unfortunately for me I lack that too.
What I'm trying to do now though is figure out little ways to change my daily routine in more healthy ways. For the past couple of weeks I've been walking at least 2 miles a day at work (where I used to just sit in my car and eat fast food at lunch). I have also given up fast food and sodas. I intent to try to change little things in other aspects of my life as well so that I am gradually doing healthier things. Seeing your success is a great inspiration.
Thanks again.
