i just stumbled upon this entry courtsey of @moneyinfant so i decided to give it a short, this is my entry into "My Promo-mentors Writing Challenge" organized by @futurethinker.
To Be or Not to Be.
I served in Anambra state ( south eastern state in Nigeria) and a story was told to me about a boy called Ikechukwu popularly known as IK, IK was just like any other normal boy in the neighborhood, healthy and athletic, at the age of 12 a dilema that will change his entire life started playing out, IK got sick and he was administered in the hospital 🏥 🏥 but all the test carried out on him didn't show any tangible disease or infection, he got transferred to another hospital and still the same thing then his parents were forced to do trado-medical and even consult the gods and oracles perhaps if they could proffer a solution to the issues at hand, IK was bedridden for 2 years and counting when luck finally came his way during a one day free medical check up done by foreign expatriate under WHO Innitiave, IK's case was reopened and voila the test showed his Oestrogen level was high despite being a boy. They called his parents and told them simply that IK has the body of a male but the gene of a female and both contradict each other as the body grows with time, his parents couldn't believe their ears and his mum almost cried her heart out despite the promise from the foreign doctors to foot the bill for the surgery but the thought of having a male transform into a female frightened them as such hasn't been heard of before in their community, IK's surgery was done in the US and his name was changed to Diana in honour to the only female doctor present during her cross-gender operation. Ik's parents were adviced by the medical team to change their location to where Diana won't remember her past .
Diana came back and starts life afresh, got admitted into a new secondary school 🏫 🏫 she soon began to make new friends but she was yet to really accept her genetic change and she is scared of opening up to anyone for fear of discrimination. She dreaded the idea of living on drugs all through her life. Sadly on her 21st birthday while in the second year in the university, Diana decided to end it all by committing suicide leaving a note with the inscription ;To be or to be.

Many males and female across the globe have this gender disorder, they feel they are males while there body say otherwise, I've seen young men walk and talk like a lady and there's nothing they can do about it, so also is the female folks with wider chest and mustache to balance it up all trapped in a body they couldn't get out, some resort to taking drugs to boost there hormone some don't have the financial capability and it all boils down to chickening out of life through the easiest door: gay, Lesbians, or suicide. And the society is yet to do something about it.
Good one! But your first tag is supposed be promomentors-challenge. This might ruin your opportunity of winning the challenge o.
