When I was at the doctor the other day, the doctor asked me a very important question...
He asked me how much exercise I get on a daily basis.
In the past this had been an easy question to answer.
I was very active in sports and exercising, basically every chance I got. So much so that when a doctor would ask that question I could almost always check off the top range of their chart in terms of hours per day.
Well the other day when I was asked, I realized I was not able to check off that top range any longer.
In fact I wasn't anywhere near where I thought I was!
As I started to reflect and actually plot out each one of my days, I started to realize how sedentary I had become.
My typical day started like this:
Wake up 7 am, go sit down at the table and eat breakfast. Then sit down at the computer and get caught up on the morning news.
Then get the kids together and go sit in the car while I drive them to school.
Then I go to work, where I sit at my desk till lunch time, at which point I get up and walk over to the table and sit down again to eat my lunch.
After that is finished I go back and sit back down at my desk till about 5 pm.
At that point I go sit in the car and drive to pick up the Mrs.
Then once we get home, we sit on the couch and talk about our day for a bit.
Then we whip up something for dinner, if we don't order something, and then sit down again at the dinner table to enjoy a meal together.
Then after that we watch a show/movie/game together before we go to bed around 9 pm.
Did you notice all the sitting in there?
I think if I keep that up I am going to be as big as a house and probably dead by 60!
Think about your day and how much sitting you actually do.
Now, figure out how you can squeeze little bits of exercise in here and there.

My goal is to try and at least get some push-ups and possibly some walking in during each day. It's not much but anything to get the heart rate up should be helpful.
Exercise helps memory and thinking through both direct and indirect means. The benefits of exercise come directly from its ability to reduce insulin resistance, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the release of growth factors—chemicals in the brain that affect the health of brain cells, the growth of new blood vessels in the brain, and even the abundance and survival of new brain cells.

Indeed, sedentarism can cause many illnesses and lead to an unhealthy lifestyle! It is very good that you have realized how bad it can make you an unhealthy lifestyle and try to change something. You can start with lighter things in the beginning such as genoflexions, jumping on the ground, gymnastics or even dancing. It's important to do daily at least a few minutes until it becomes a habit. At first it will be difficult, but after the first few weeks you will notice an improvement in your physical and mental state that will motivate you to continue! Good luck!

You have to exercise my fried. The best way is to simply make it a part of your lifestyle not a job. Do it for your family (Yes I am throwing guilt). All the best.

It is unfortunate how easy it is to neglect fitness with a busy schedule. I hope you continue with your goal! A little bit goes a long way! 😊

I'm totally forgetting how important exercise is because I think I'm getting busy on steemit and the stress of daily life. I guess I should do at least sit ups or push ups now :)

Unfortunately, I don't exercise because I have enough.
But in these last times due to my anxiety, I have been thinking more and more about it. Maybe I'll start exercising at home or when the weather gets better to go to the garden for the weight machines.
Great article!
Stay tunned!

While I was reading, I identified myself a lot on your day. We are almost always seated and with such a life, between family, work, commissions, it is really difficult to find time to do sport. I would like to do it, but once dinner is over, put the children in bed.... who finds the strength to put on doing abdominals? sigh
