The first time I tried chai tea was at work. A colleague bought it and she let me try it. It was sweet and delicious but I discover later that they had put a lot of sugar in it 😉

Yester I bought a pack of organic chai tea to try it out at home and I decided to look up the health benefits, if there were any. This is what I found out:

Chai is a healthier alternative for coffee. It contains less caffeine. You have to drink three cups of tea in order to achieve the same amount of caffeine you get in one cup of coffee. Now I don’t drink coffee but that’s pretty amazing right?

Chai tea is rich in antioxidants. Now I looked up what antioxidants do to our body. Why are they so important? They help us fight off free radicals, it helps protect the skin, our immune system and it has a lot of other health benefits which you can read here.

The spices in chai tea are known to be very “calming” and have numerous of health benefits.

Black tea
Black tea is loaded with antioxidants that can help prevent cardiovascular disease. It can lower cholesterol, and help fight against some kinds of cancer.

Ginger
Ginger reduces inflammation in the body. It’s an antioxidant that can lower blood sugar levels, and it can also help with nausea and other gastrointestinal ailments.

Cardamom
This spice helps with digestion, strengthens the immune system, and has antioxidant properties.

Excellent post @bynaomi. A time ago I prepared strawberry juice with chia seeds. It was delicious. Also, I prepare onion tea for the flu (you can find the recipe in my blog)

Thanks! I will check it out :-)
