Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Treatment Try

I finally tried out a hyperbaric oxygen chamber the other day. It is basically a coffin like tent (or hard industrial shell) that can be pressurized to 1.3 atmospheres and then oxygen is given via an oxygen mask or hood if you’re in the hard shell. Most treatment protocols call for daily or close to it treatments from 20-80 (perhaps more) treatments. There are many studies trying to figure out the best protocols but there is no clear consensus best practice.

A lot of people believe that these treatments can help the body heal a lot of ailments. For me specifically, I’m hoping to get any potential brain healing benefits I can as well as exercise recovery benefits from all the oxygen saturation.

As with all non invasive, non pharmaceutical treatments, there is a lot of rhetoric out there trying to discredit the efficacy of these chambers. Personally, I think the theory or rationale behind them is very sound. It’s the same reason I do 6 yoga classes a week, living tissue loves oxygen & the more oxygenated blood that circulates through tissue the better. Many many surgical solutions are designed to increase blood flow to a specific area to initiate the bodies natural healing ability.

The treatment lasts about an hour & I found it very peaceful & relaxing. Before my treatment I did a yoga class & then got a good upper body lift in so I was very relaxed & ready to breathe deep. The pressure helps your body absorb all that oxygen enriched air. I tried some breathing exercises while inside & was able to hold my breath on a full exhalation for a very long time without any struggle. That is a very easy self test to see how oxygenated your blood is, thanks wim hof.

If you’re a fan of meditation or yoga you would probably really dig an hour of breathing & relaxation. If you’re a phone addict, you can bring it in to the soft shell but I wouldn’t recommend it. Focusing on your breath, distraction free, is the best way to go.

This is the same model chamber I was in. My 6’6 tall ass barely fit the length & my shoulders were almost too close for comfort but I still found it to be non claustrophobic.

An hour of scheduled oxygen enriched meditation a day for a month might just be better than anything the dr ever ordered.

I’m definitely going go back for more time sometime soon & it also made me want to try a deprivation tank as soon as possible.

What do you think of these chambers? Anyone else out there tried it?
