Personal fitness goal - The stairs of death! (my apartment building)

Hi Steemit!

I have decided that I have turned into a potato over the past year

When I lived in the UK last year I used to be part of a roller derby team. I trained twice a week and went skating whenever i could. Last year I got a very nasty chest infection that put me in hospital. As a result I still have asthma.

I now live in China as a teacher and unfortunately there are no roller derby teams close by that I can join but I really want to get into shape again.

I live on the 22 floor of a high-rise apartment building and I have set myself a challenge.

I have decided that I am going to start tackling the stairs. For the first 3 weeks I shall use the stairs once a week, I shall then move up until I can do this 4 times a week without feeling like my chest will burst.

Also on the look out for a local roller skating rink that I can start practicing again

Wish me luck!

Charlotte :)

now that you live on 22 floor, i would suggest to use the stairs every day but not the whole way, for the first week use the stairs till the 4th or fifth floor, by time you can increase the number. 4 floor is not that much to climb. at least not for you. and if you are not in a hurry i would suggest every time you go downstairs use the stairs, climbing down won't make you feel tired but it also will be good for health.

@masummim, that's a good idea, It will help me build up to it more gently and when I'm having bad days with my asthma I can still do a little bit :)

good... i am glad my opinion mattered to you

Wow 22nd floor ! That is a good goal ! Are you stair challenging me ? Hahaha .
My office is on the 6th floor and I always take the stairs, but.. if it was on the 22nd I don't think I would be able to . I think it's a great initiative and looking forward to see how it goes !

I've only done it once before when the lift was broken and I thought my heart was going to jump out of my mouth lol!

Hahaha I can only imagine ! Be careful, step by step ;)

Good initiative. I was once in your shoes :) and 4 months ago I challenged myself to get in shape and have a healthy life style. I think challenging yourself and then seeing the results is the biggest motivation.

Good luck... :)

That would kill me, but I need to get back to weight loss and health.
