Natural Sickness Relief (and healing!)

Coming down with the cold or flu is inevitable. Whether it is 1x a year or multiple times it is never fun to deal with. More and more people are looking for drug-free options to help their symptoms feel better and their bodies heal faster. In this short blog, I am going to walk you through what I do when the sick bug hits me and my family!

First off, as you can probably guess, I make sure I get adjusted. There are multiple studies proving chiropractic adjustments positive and immediate effects on the immune system. The adjustment can also aid in clearing clogged sinuses, assist the lungs in expelling phlegm, and soothe common body aches. What I am going to do next is give you another look inside my atypical, sometimes magical cabinet. When taking supplements remember, make sure they are safe for you to take. When taking therapeutic doses, it is important to take them multiple times a day rather than in one big dose. The first supplement (which I take daily) I increase is Vit D3 Quantum D3 Gold
This supports the immune system in so many different ways, you could write a book on it. I recommend bumping up to 2000-3000IU 2-3x per day for the duration of the sickness.

My next recommendation is upping your vitamin C intake. My go-to for natural occurring Vit C is the Camu-Camu berry. Paradise Herbs Camu Vitamin C I prefer this much more over the “EmergenC” packets because there are no fillers, no sugars, and the Vit C is naturally occurring with other synergistic vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. I recommend the same dosing technique, taking 1 capsule 2-3x per day with the Vit D.

The last component of the sickness fighting triad is Elderberry syrup. Maine Medicinals – Organic Elderberry Syrup 4 oz
This is truly a magical serum that stimulates the immune system as to help fight off the attacking bacteria and viruses. Think of elderberry like Braveheart-leading charge and stirring up the soldiers. There are numerous peer-reviewed articles that support the immune boosting characteristics of black elderberry syrup. Like the other two supplements, I recommend taking the recommended dose 2-3x per day.

BONUS: While the triad I mentioned above works extremely well, here are some bonus things to further support your immune system. They don’t taste great, but they truly work to boost your immune system so you can get over your sickness as soon as possible. (Note: Adults only for these)

Another triad I use is a mixture of Oregano, peppermint, and tea tree essential oils. Plant Therapy USDA Certified Organic Oregano Essential Oil. 100% Pure, Undiluted, Therapeutic Grade. 10 ml (1/3 oz).
Oregano oil is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral as are tea tree Plant Therapy USDA Certified Organic Tea Tree (Melaleuca) Essential Oil. 100% Pure, Undiluted, Therapeutic Grade. 10 ml (1/3 oz).
Peppermint is also a powerful decongestant and helps mask the flavor of the other two (trust me, its not great). Typically, I will do 3 drops of each in a very small amount of water and take it in one gulp with a chaser ready. If the taste is unbearable for you, try ordering your own veggie capsules and make your own essential oil capsule. I recommend taking the blend 2-3x per day. Capsule Connection 1000 Bulk Empty Vegetarian Capsules

My last bonus recommendation is colloidal silver. Argentyn 23 Professional Bioactive Silver Hydrosol 23 PPM Screw Top, 4 Ounce This is a powerful antibacterial with very little taste. This works extremely well for shortening the duration of the cold. I typically only take the recommended dose 1-2x per day of I am doing the rest of the supplements above.
In conclusion, remember that the supplements are in addition to getting adjusted! If I could only get adjusted or supplements, I would choose the adjustment every time -its that powerful! If you are searching for a chiropractor, you can find one on www.thenationalwellnessfoundation.org/
