Scientists claim that they found more evidence that a fever is good to fight off your body's infections. But let me tell you, it sucks! It's really painful to bear the temperature of fever and coldness. I don't think anyone can claim that they have never had the attack of fever. So the good thing is, we can all relate to the pain it causes.
Though it's true that you can thank your fever because it is fighting other infections in cold and flu season. However, it doesn't mean that you should become careless and not address it just because it fights body infections. It sucks when all of your colleagues are at work and you are at home and sleeping all the day because of a fever.
Personally, I had some serious fever attacks and I felt extreme coldness as such that even one blanket was insufficient to bear such coldness. I know that I'm not alone. All of us go through such stages from time-to-time. The good thing is that I've used several methods for curing my fever at home and the results were wonderful. Though the ways may be common among people, it feels good to know that they actually work quite well. I'll share three of my tested methods in this post that can help to reduce or even cure your fever.
1 - Take a bath in lukewarm water
When you're suffering from fever, the temperature of your body is actually too high and you need to cool down your body somehow. It's proven that water helps to reduce the temperature of our body, especially lukewarm water. Though cold water can help too, it is uncomfortable to those suffering from fever.
Take a bath properly and don't be so quick. Spend at least 10 minutes in lukewarm water and make sure that your bathroom is closed as such that wind doesn't go through your body or else you'll start feeling coldness. If you have a tub, then relax for 10 minutes in the tub and then enjoy the shower.
2 - Drink plenty of water and eat well
A fever often causes you to become dehydrated. You may be aware that dehydration can lead to many other undesirable conditions, so it's better to drink plenty of water. I'd argue that it depends more on your activity level and age than a general rule. As for myself, I try to drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day to make sure that I don't become dehydrated. Also, focus on fruit juices. They wonderfully boost our energy level.
As for eating the meals, you should be well aware that your body demands energy to fight diseases, and it is much better to fulfill that demand through natural means. You need to eat well and boost your energy level. Remember that you must stay away from junk food and focus on healthy meals.
3 - Dampen your skin with lukewarm water:
I've been using this method with success since my childhood and it works quite well. You should dampen your skin with lukewarm water because it helps your body temperature to cool down and that will ultimately result in comfort. Use a wet towel and dampen your skin with it for around 5-7 minutes. It would be better if you ask your wife/husband/parents to do it for you or else you might feel uncomfortable.
There is one exception to this remedy. Make sure that you are not feeling coldness while dampening your skin. If you're feeling coldness, stop doing it, because it might worsen your fever.
When you're suffering from fever, you also need a lot of rest until you believe that you can start some light activities. I hope you can use these natural methods to help you reduce your fever quickly.
Hello, here again, how good to read these simple tips. I really like what you write, with a precise, simple language. It is very good that information you give through your post, as they are responsible for clarifying things that most people work. Those three tips, in my professional practice that work quite well, in fact it is the first thing that is indicated to children, a good bath for a long time is the best to lower the fever. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Excellent.

Taking a shower can be a great way to fight fever as the cold water can prevent the body to increase to temperatures that are high enough to cause damage in the brain cells, besides this maintaining a certain temperature above 37º in the body can help fight infections.
God Bless Us All!

Yes. Taking a shower won't cure you, and it's not advisable if you're feeling dizzy, etc. But it may help you feel better, which is important also.

I've found putting my shower head on the pulse setting, gradually increasing the temperature while the water pounds the back of my neck breaks my fevers.
Good topic, thank you.
