Some might say that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body, which is in some way right and wrong at the same time. After all you should look after your body e.g. by paying attention to your diet and by getting enough movement. These two factors are very important to set the ground for your wellbeing, but nevertheless not everybody who sticks to these two ground rules is really healthy.
So why is that? In my opinion the greatest source of our life is our mind and if our mind is not in a great place, how should our body be?
Love and happiness is nothing you can get from other people or from activities or things, like something to eat. It is your choice to be happy or to be unhappy and also if you are willing to create your happiness every day. The good thing is: you don’t have to. It is your free choice which way to go and it is totally fine to be unhappy, for a while or for a lifetime.
Of course life can be hard sometimes, but it is your choice what you do with your experiences. Even the worst experience can lead to different reactions. There are some who might give up on the situation and there is most likely someone, who suffers from the same surrounding, who starts fighting and returns even stronger than before.
Over our lifetime and over generations now, we established contexts about different situations and got conclusions why it is like it is. Our subconscious does these conclusions for us, telling us that it is the only right way to think. And it is totally clear, because our experience tells us the same. Over the time and over generations we now stopped playing the game, but finding excuses why to avoid it. There are millions of reasons why we should not do this or that. But only a few of us really stop from time to time and thinks about what the subconscious is telling us. Sometimes because we are afraid what it might tell us. Sometimes because we afraid of the conclusions and that we are all responsible for our own happiness. Sometimes just because we are just all driven.
If you want to live a fulfilling life start listening. Give your body the opportunity to digest whether it is you thoughts or your food. There are two major functions working in our body: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The sympathetic always works if we are on a rush. And to be honest, most of us are on a constant rush. It was developed by our body to escape dangerous situations and in this situations there is no need for digestion or some body functions beneath surviving. Even if you are supplying yourself with healthy food, your body might not even be able to profit from it. Only the state of calm our parasympathetic kicks in and we get room for all of that.
And there are ways to get in that state again:
- Find a reason to live and for your life (Maybe the book about the big 5 for life from John Strelecky can give you a hint). If you are living a life with passion things will most likely just get easier by themselves.
- If you find reasons why not and why you possible do not have any other choice, find someone who can help you with that. I am happy to have found a way for myself with “contextuell coaching” by the CCA (which is unfortunately only offered in Germany right now). It got me and gets me to rough times. And there are tons of other possibilities. It is only your choice if you are willing to take one of them.
If you want to live a fulfilling and happy life and you are not right now, there is one thing that is for sure: You have to change something and that is most likely yourself.
Your current way only leads to your current state, so do something else to get the opportunity to change. And one final tip: Change yourself, because this is really the only thing in your power to change. - Calm down, most effectively by meditation (This does not necessarily mean to sit down and “OOOOOOOMMMMMM” but to find an activity or non-activity where you can access your thoughts and hear what they have to say).
There plenty of things you can do, just take a look what works for you and start digesting again!
