Acne is a common symptom of PCOS. I receive many questions on a daily basis from women with PCOS looking to treat their acne.
PCOS/hormonal acne is certainly one of the symptoms that makes many women feel helpless and constantly upset. Hormonal acne truly does affect one's confidence and life. Suffering with acne can make it difficult to go about your day normally.
In this video I discuss what is causing your PCOS acne and what you can do now to help treat it.
You have to get to the root cause of what is causing your acne which is inflammation. Caused as a result of insulin resistance or poor gut health.
Avoid taking pills such as Accutane, antibiotics or the birth control to treat your PCOS. Antibotics will not help as they harm good bacteria in the gut. The Birth Control pill is giving to many women with PCOS to treat their PCOS and acne, through balancing their hormones. However, the the birth control pill does not balance your hormones, it is simply like putting a band aid on the problem. It is not getting to the root cause, once you come off the pill you are back to square one, still unbalanced hormones.
Get to the root cause of PCOS. Once you get to the root cause and treat that, then your PCOS will be reversed and your symptoms will go. However, you have to ensure you stick to your healthy lifestyle for your symptoms to stay at bay.
