Vitamin D maintains the calcium / phosphorus balance of the body and play a role in bone development. Some studies showed that it may also helps the immune system to fight with microorganisms.

Nearly all of the Vitamin D we need is synthesized from making contact with sun. Foods don’t have much vitamin D. The levels of vitamin D is very low on breast milk too. So babies either need regular 15-30 minutes sun contact daily (which is not possible for everyone) or take external Vitamin D supplement. In some countries, it is mandatory to use vitamin D for the first 6-24 months.

But be careful! Excess vitamin D intake may cause poisoning which is sometimes mortal. Vitamin D deficiency can be detected by taking blood sample. Always consult your doctor before using vitamins.

D vitamini, vücudun kalsiyum / fosfor dengesini korur ve kemik gelişiminde rol oynar. Bazı çalışmalar, bağışıklık sisteminin mikroorganizmalarla savaşmasına da yardımcı olabileceğini göstermiştir.

İhtiyacımız olan D Vitamininin hemen hepsi güneş ile temastan sentezlenir. Gıdalar çok fazla D vitamini içermez. Anne sütünde de D vitamini seviyeleri çok düşüktür. Bu nedenle, bebeklerin günlük olarak 15-30 dakika boyunca güneşle temas etmesi (bu herkes için mümkün değildir) veya dışardan D vitamini takviyesi alması gerekir. Bazı ülkelerde ilk 6-24 ay boyunca D vitamini kullanılması zorunludur.

Ancak dikkat edin! Aşırı D vitamini alımı bazen ölümcül de olabilen zehirlenmelere neden olabilir. D vitamini eksikliği kan alınarak tespit edilebilmektedir. Vitaminleri kullanmadan önce mutlaka doktorunuza danışın.

Vitamin D is very important and most people do not know it until they have been infected by vitamin D deficiency
