In medical field obesity is the measure of fatness.
The World Health Organization defines obesity as a condition with excess body fat to the extent that health and well-being are adversely affected.
Parameters to measure obesity.
Ideal body weight (IBW)
Predicted body weight (PBW)
Lean body weight (LBW)
Body mass index (BMI), also called Quetelet’s index.
Out of these BMI is easy to use and is commonly used.
The BMI is determined using the patient’s measured weight (in kilograms) and height (in meters) and is calculated as follows:
Obesity is defined as having a BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2.
STAY BETWEEN 18 TO 25 BMI , STAY HEALTHY.
