BLADDER INFECTION | CAUSES | SYMPTOMS | TREATMENT

Nice post! Another suspected cause of UTI is something called "residual urine". Women who urinate in a hurry, or don't sit properly to avoid touching the toilet seat, or patients with diabetes or bladder dysfunction issues, might still have some urine left in their bladder that remains there longer than it should. This has been correlated with bacteria growth and UTIs, although more studies are needed to confirm this.

A very important advice if you suffer from a UTI is to limit sugar intake. This is because high blood glucose levels raise the risk of a UTI as sugar promotes inflammation. Drink a lot of water or echinacea tea to clear out the bladder. Concentrated cranberry supplements have also shown some evidence that they prevent bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall.
