What's Your Idea Of An Healthy Lifestyle?

in health •  5 years ago  (edited)

It's important to consider your choices today as we live in a world where getting clean food and water can be hard for many people. Ofcourse those of us who can manage it are obviously doing well but even then a lot of the items we eat in our daily lives are processed heavily in industries before we get them on our plates.

In such a scenario I was wondering what people from different places consider to be a healthy lifestyle. Junk food varies from country to country and it's hard to narrow down sometimes what is best for us because let's face it when it comes to nutrition value present in our food, most of us are clueless.

We need to look in depth and sometimes even take help from other people to achieve these goals. If you've been a diet what is it that you ate that made a big difference to your health positively. If you enjoy your junk food consumption and cannot balance it, what do you see yourself consuming the most regularly?

Do you also include any exercise, I ask because I've on a path to improving my own life and in the process of trying to achieve some of the new year goals I set for myself. In the process I've realised that a health lifestyle requires an ideal combination of eating healthy food and exercise. Both are quite necessary to achieving a good life.

What are you doing currently to achieve a health lifestyle goals and if you're already there, what are the things you have done to get there?

I eat mostly fresh meat and vegs. I cook 3 whole chickens so it lasts me for the week, I don't need to eat processed foods. If I am going out I take food with my self, I prepare food for the future so don't need ever to eat crap food. And I exercise A LOT.

Actually good health has more to do with right food (nutrition) than exercise. Sure, lack of exercise does cause its own problems but they can be solved easily the minute one starts exercising. On the other hand, bad food habits are going to screw one's body bigtime with various diseases, including dreaded autoimmune diseases, and usually there's nothing one can do about it other than suffer the effects silently.

In my opinion the biggest change one can make to one's diet is staying away from the consumption of hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils. Those things are loaded with trans fats and consumption of them is basically inviting heart problems in the near future. The other big change one can make is avoiding white sugar as much as one can. Just flat out refuse to consume anything that requires white sugar added to it and instead try having them without sugar (in case of drinks) or any other sweeteners.

And now, coming to what one should eat/drink more, I'd say soups. Soups are one of the healthiest foods out there and packed with so many essential as well as rare nutrients if a variety of vegetables and good-quality condiments (naturally fermented vinegar, soy sauce etc) are used. Soups are the perfect food if one is on diet. You just can't overeat it, that's the best thing about it. I feel people in India underrate soups a lot. It should be a part of our daily diet.

In my case it's first of all almost 0 alcohool exceping maybe weddings of my friends ot such spesial cases. Also I'm trying to do my daily exercises every day. When weather allows me I spent many time at nature with running, pull ups a.s.o. At winter time I love skiing. Now from let's move from sport to food I grow fruits, berries and vegetables which possible in my garden.
This avoids the harmful pesticides and nitrates on our table.
Well, in conclusion I want to say that I try to observe the daily regimen. In my opinion, this also contributes to a healthy lifestyle.

I believe "the simpler - the better" formula works in most cases. I don't follow any particular diet, but I do listen to my body and its needs, and I watch how it reacts to everything I consume.

At this point I try to eat natural foods with no artificial colors, hormones, preservatives, etc. They are more expensive, but I don't eat loads, and I don't buy "fancy" food like expensive cheeses, meats, or wines, so I save on that to buy cleaner, more natural stuff.

I cut down on red meat (not because of moral issues; I just kind of don't want it much anymore). Lots of grains, mushrooms, nuts, bread, and vegetables.

I do eat junk food once a week or so. I can have an occasional soda. But (!) I consider this to be just another form of training for my body and mind. For instance, if I eat a load of junk food, sweet bread, etc., instead of lying down or relaxing after that I engage in some heavy mental or physical activity. No, not to burn calories, but to challenge my body and brain. OK, I ate some food that made me sleepy, lazy, and wanting to just sit on the couch and watch my favorite series... But what if I get up and do a 20-minute headstand instead? This way we get stronger... not stronger in terms of muscle power and all that (although that probably as well) but in terms of how our will-power works with the organism.

We all are built and function in a similar manner, but every single organism is so unique that I think most general formulas of how to eat, sleep, exercise, etc., HAVE to be adjusted to the particular needs to that specific person. For example, many scientists say that an average adult needs 6-7 hours of sleep every day, but I am perfectly fine with 4-5 hours. I figured that out through practice. I would never advice this particular sleep pattern to anyone else; what's good for me might be a total disaster to someone different.

My husband and I have a long time life plan to be as healthy as we can be. We've started doing yoga everyday, which I have found has really benefited my mind just as much as the rest of me!

I've never considered taking a diet. What I do is to take care of my alimentation and that doesn't mean to not eat sugar or junk food at all but not so often. I like considering that travelling (hiking, climbing, walking) makes it the best way to take care of your life and health, so that's what I'm doing as much as I can. It's not just a passion but a lifestyle :)

:- D trying to cut back on sugar is tough! everything has sugar
