On being grateful
Patient #1 today made me grateful for my ability to speak freely. Imagine having Primary Progressive Aphasia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_progressive_aphasia), and while you read about it note the other mental functions remain intact part. Suddenly being stuck in Monday morning traffic feels so much better, compared to being stuck in your brain.
Patient #2 today made me grateful for still having all my hair and my scalp post-brain-hemorrhage-operation-stitches free. Despite the fact that she puked in my office, luckily in the trash bin.
Patient #3 today made me grateful for being the person I am; nice, kind and patient with Alzheimer's disease (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alzheimer%27s_disease) patients, even after listening about World War 2 and his famous kiwi jam. His quote, not mine: If I had someone like you at my weekend cabin, I'd never gotten dementia!
Does your job make you grateful? In what ways?
