As I was looking for fruit in the Malaysian local marketplace someone was screaming and they caught my attention. I decided to document their call for help, their shouts for freedom and their agony and pain.

In Western countries, there’s a tendency to hide and masquerade the reality of mass slaughtered animals and our consumption of them. And it all happens behind closed walls.
We give distancing names to the animal-foods we eat to make the fact that we eat dead animals less noticeable.
We say beef, pork or veal instead of a pig, cow and calf.
We buy it in fancy packages and never see what kind of life the animals goes through. The process may be different dependent on animal, country and which slaughterhouse they arrive at, but one thing is for sure - it always end up with an involuntary death, and we don’t even hear the echoes of their screams.
In a supermarket in Bangkok, displaying it as it is.
not exactly what we are used to seeing particularly in the western societies, good or bad?
It's not only the animals that suffer
- Slaughterhouse workers suffers psychological dangers according to studies
- Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction.
- 82% of starving children live in countries where food is fed to animals, and the animals are eaten by western countries.
- World Health Organization (WHO) report has classified bacon & sausage as carcinogenic for humans consumption
- The number one dietary source of cholesterol in America is chicken
If you'd like to explore further there are many good movies in relation to meat consumption and more.
Here are some to get you started:
- Cowspiracy
- Earthlings
- Forks Over Knives
- What The Health
- Speciesism The Movie
What's your thoughts about animal slaughter? Have you ever killed an animal yourself? Could you see yourself kill an animal? Have you seen some of the movies mentioned? Want to share your perspective?
Thank you for posting and exposing the reality of animal suffering. Those chicken need to witness their own kind being slaughter. That is death by 10,000 times. Any normal and happy human can not tolerate such murder. How can that be delicious and healthy? Compassion is our very human nature. When we violate our own human nature, we will be so far away from true happiness!

In the era of abundance, meat consumption is completely uncalled-for (I might understand it in some extreme circumstances, like war or other source of famine, but nowadays there is absolutely no valid argument out there that would support it), be it in the west or in the east. In the west we are also hypocrites on top of that: let's hide it and pretend it's not happening. It's sickening, to say the least.
