So you've just spent 5 minutes making your delicious smoothie, using only 5 ingredients but you have no actual idea how many good things were in just one cup. Let's review your yummy breakfast with a good few facts.

• Apple:

— Apples are rich in nutrients whose quantity depends on the type and the way of cultivation. It contains almost all the necessary nutrients. The apple is rich in polyphenols - herbal compounds that have a strong antioxidant activity. Thanks to the high proportion of carbohydrates, especially fructose and glucose, apples supply the body with energy and prevent fatigue and loss of concentration.
— Because of the high content of vitamin C and antioxidants, the apple has a powerful immunostimulatory action. That's why it is very effective in fighting viruses, bacteria and free radicals. That being said, it's obvious that they protect us against colds and reduce the risk of colon cancer.
— Apple also has a positive effect on the heart and the vascular system. It prevents accumulation of harmful substances in the blood, reduces elevated cholesterol and blockage of blood vessels.

• Kiwi:

— It is the best source of vitamin C. Kiwi is full of vitamins E and K, as well as various minerals including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper. Kiwi is rich in fiber so it enhances digestion, detoxification and balances fat and blood sugar.
— It has low calories but is very nutritious at the same time. It contains flavonoids and carotenoids - powerful antioxidants that protect against cardiovascular disease and cancer, and lutein and zeaxanthin that are important for good vision.
— Studies have shown that the kiwi also helps with the respiratory system, and is called a natural antidepressant because it contains a "hormone of happiness", serotonin.

• Coconut milk:

— Coconut and coconut milk have unjustifiably gained a bad reputation because they contain a large amount of fat. However, the new researches have shown - not consuming enough fat can actually cause increased body weight. Unique medium chain fatty acids in coconut milk have been proven to help lose weight, improve immune system reduce heart disease risk and have positive affects on skin and hair health.
— Coconut milk is an excellent substitute for cow's milk. Coconut is extremely nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 and B6, as well as in minerals like iron, selenium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. It does not contain lactose and therefore, it is a great alternative for those with intolerance.

• Chia seeds:

— One portion of chia seeds contains 18 percent of recommended daily calcium dose. By consuming chia seeds, we maintain the health of the teeth and bones and also prevent osteoporosis.

Sounds like a great combination! I would add a bit of ginger, but I just love ginger :) Does the Chlorella give any flavour to it?

Chlorella itself has a very strong and in my opinion gross taste, but no, in this smoothie you can't really taste it. 😊
