Yesterday at 3pm, I had an appointment to get my left wisdom tooth removed. I figured I'd write this post to share my experience with people. I am sure that everyone will be getting them out soon or will need to in the future.
So to start off I had to fast for six hours, no food or drink. The surgeon put on the laughing gas and it definitely made the procedure easy as can be. I was awake the whole time and i was impressed it took only 5-10 minutes to remove my impacted wisdom tooth. The surgeon then put a piece of gauze on my mouth and told me to bite it for 1 hour. My mouth was very numb and talking was very difficult. I had a 15 minutes drive to get to the pharmacy and 30 minutes to get home. When I got home, I had to change the old gauze and change it, it was bleeding a lot so I had to change the gauze every 10-20 minutes.
I know everyone can be different but after 1 hour. I felt like I got hit in the face with a wrench. I have not felt that much pain in a long time. I took the Antibiotics and pain reliever from the doctor and felt a little bit better after 2 hours.
Just a half bottle of water and a little oatmeal was all I had until about 3pm today. I finally ate a half a bowl of ice cream. I still have to take my medicines for 1 week. The bleeding finally stopped after 24 hours so I don't have to deal with the gauze. My face is not swollen anymore and I can talk normally like before but my throat is messed up for some reason. It's sometimes hard to swallow. I just ate bowl of ice cream and oatmeal since yesterday. I can't wait to eat normal and solid foods. My orthodontist told me yesterday I lost lots of weight since I got braces. She said I can eat hard foods or my favourite foods if I want to and I shouldn't be scared. I'm very surprised I'm not sick with all the medicines I have taken without enough food in me.
Bottom line for those who get this done in the future, take your pain killers immediately and also try staying away from hard foods for 3 days.

I have been so lucky with my wisdom teeth! I have had tooth pulled before, from bad habits of course, and it seems no matter what wisdom tooth I have they always grow in much further and half into a spot from a missing tooth - that there is almost no problem extracting mine.
I haven't even had to take pain killers for my extractions!
Hope you feel better soon :D

Thank you. I'm feeling better and started to eat rice and meat today. My X-Ray shows 3 of my wisdom teeth are okay except on my left side. But my orthodontist told me if my upper teeth won't get better from braces, she needs to remove all my wisdom teeth. I'm so scared
