B complex is a group of vitamins which consist of the following:
B1 - thiamin
B2 - riboflavin
B3 - niacin
B5 - pantothenic acid
B6 - pyridoxal phosphate
B7 - biotin
B9 - folate
B12 - cobalamin
Being deficient in any or all of the above (not likely) can be the cause of the onset of the following symptoms:
- skin issues (dermatitis, dry skin, easily bruised skin)
- fatigue
- headache
- confusion
- insomnia
- light sensitivity
- diarrhea
- nausea
- fear, depression & anxiety
- vomiting
- forgetfulness
- hostility
- decrease or lack of appetite
- rage
- during pregnancy a lack of b complex vitamins can cause neurological defects in newborn
- vegans are at a higher risk of deficiency
Instead of taking supplements, most B complex vitamins can be suitably attained from our diets.
B1 - whole grains and legumes, beans, spinach, kale
B2 - almonds, eggs, milk, spinach, sprouts and rice
B3 - eggs, milk, beans, green veggies and red meat
B5 - Meat, yogurt, beans, legumes and eggs
B6 - rice, salmon, tuna, turkey, chicken and seeds
B7 - chicken, pork, potatoes, nuts and egg yolks
B9 - asparagus, root vegetables, milk, wheat, beans, salmon and green leafy vegetables
B12 - dairy, beef, fish, eggs and pork
