Barbie dolls are shaping your children's thinking.

Today I am going to talk about an issue in our society that has been in the life of almost every single person and we just simply ignore it, No I'm not talking about drug addiction or crimes or abuse. I am going to talk about "BARBIE". Some of you reading this article right now might have generated an opinion about me that (WTHH ??? this person must be joking) but imagine you are going through your 5 year old daughter's notebook and you see this:

We just but our daughters these perfect looking plastic dolls thinking that they are going to lay with it and it is just a toy, but is it really just a "TOY"?? Your daughter talks to that so called toy, she bathes it, she sleeps with it, she cooks for it and she even cries with it. NO, it is just a "TOY" but it is a friend, a teacher, a daughter and most importantly, it is a role model for that 3 year old daughter.

Now, I will talk about that how actually the barbie is actually destroying your children's thinking. below I am going to put picture of two barbie dolls together and you tell me which type of barbie doll you usually buy for your daughter!

Obviously most of you will buy the skinnier one. Now this is where the problem starts, The girls ant to attain this barely healthy of a figure by being close to this plastic toy that they start hurting themselves.“The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness reported that 70 million people worldwide suffer from eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. About 90 percent of those with eating disorders are young woman between the ages of 12 and 25” (Barbie and Body Image 2). During this survey, the women stated that they played with Barbies shortly before they were diagnosed at a young age. Also, the survey stated that 18 out of 25 women who played with Barbies as a child would rather be run over by a truck, then be overweight (2). It is important to know that Barbies do not just cause eating disorders. The doll’s other materialistic characteristics have the potential to negatively impact the lives of young girls. Barbie is known for having a plethora of expensive clothing, and all that seems to matter to a child who plays with her is her perfect physical appearance. It is amazing how a small piece of plastic can be so powerful. A psychiatrist named Carole Lieberman thinks that Barbie has been the most destructive force on the self-image of woman all over the globe (Stone 12).

Now I know that girls want toys and its their right to play with them and even i will give give daughters toys to play with but i wouldn't want to compromise their health in the process. Even if you give the the doll, at least make sure that they don't get too close to it, also there are many alternatives or substitutes like teddy bears or stuffed animals or electronic devices. So i would like all of you to think about the future because me might ignore it now thinking that it's nothing but trust me it is not something to be taken lightly.

Barbies are a curse for our children

yea indeed.

Is Barbie the problem or is she a symptom? 'Barbie' is everywhere - the bottom sets at school where they dump my dyslexic/dyspraxic/dyscalculic son, the art class where creativity/self expression is judged and ordered rather than nurtured, the gods of money and food, celebrity and medicine - but these don't come out of nowhere, humans have always craved gods. I suffered anorexia as a teen - not because of barbie, but because i didn't fit and thought i was wrong. Anorexia morphed into insomnia then into a mental/emotional breakdown then a physical one. It took a great deal of anger to learn there was nothing wrong with me, i had just got swept up with the round pegs when i was a square hole. But there's no discussion with some people. Comfort in the familiar and all that. My own daughter is a tubby little thing . I tell her constantly that beauty is in the eyes - because that's the truth.

yea i get what you want to say but I want to spread awareness about this one problem at the moment, obviously there are other factors which can cause this and maybe now its too late to correct now but there is nothing wrong with trying, right?

Never anything wrong with trying. All the cartoons are at it too. It's an epidemic.

They are trying to cure this epidemic. Now you can buy neutral gender toys, fat toys skinny toys, politically correct toys. Moving people onto the next epidemic through programing of our children so they forget about the past programming errors. (or were they errors?)

I doubt that the barbie doll causes problems for anyone.
