Contact Lens Wearers Making Dangerous Mistakes
A new report from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention shows that there is indeed room for improvement.
The American Optometric Association offers the following six critical recommendations for all contact lens wearers:
Wear contact lens only if they are fitted and prescribed by an eye doctor.
- Make sure contact lens are properly cleaned and disinfected, as instructed by your eye doctor.
- Wash your hands before handling and cleaning your contact lens.
- Never swap or share contact lens with anyone.
- Never sleep while wearing contact lens, unless they are extended-wear lens specifically designed for that purpose.
- Never swim while wearing contact lens. There is a risk of eye infection when contact lens come into contact with bacteria in swimming pool water.
