Intermittent Fasting is a Natural Remedy

in health •  7 years ago

The most common type of fasting is known as intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting, also known as cyclic fasting, is a catch-all phrase for eating and not eating intermittently.

Intermittent fasting has become increasingly popular over the years, especially among the health community. Fasting has been deemed a natural remedy because of the list of physical conditions improved by the action is extremely vast. It is said that fasting frees up energy so the body can begin healing itself.

Benefits Of Intermittent Fasting

Weight Loss

Fasting can be a safe way to lose weight as many studies have shown that fasting allows the body to use fat as it’s primary source of energy instead of sugar causing the body to burn through fat cells more effectively than just regular dieting. Fasting can energize your metabolism to burn through calories more efficiently.

Regulates Your Digestion

Fasting gives your digestive system a rest and can regulate your digestion and promote healthy bowel function.

Creates Longevity

Studies have shown that fasting has been a key factor in prolonging the lives of people in many cultures by speeding up the metabolism and keeping the body younger and healthier.

Improves Brain Function

Has shown to improve brain function, because it boosts the production of a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF.)

BDNF activates brain stem cells to convert into new neurons, and triggers numerous other chemicals that promote neural health. This protein also protects your brain cells from changes associated with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Boots Your Immune System

Intermittent fasting improves the immune system because it reduces free radical damage, regulates inflammatory conditions in the body and starves off cancer cell formation. Fasting helps reduce stress on their internal system so the body can fight off infection.

Reduces Breakouts

Taking a break from eating can help clear the skin because with the body wasting no energy on digestion, it’s able to focus its regenerative energies on cleaning up the toxins and regulating the functioning of other organs of the body like liver, kidneys and other parts.

Precautions

For most of the population, intermittent fasting can be a really helpful tool in managing your weight and health. However, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should avoid fasting entirely. If you have diabetes, a serious medical condition or are taking prescription medication, it’s best to consult with your doctor before embarking on a fast.

Personally, intermittent fasting has helped me with digestive issues and has opened my eyes to the amazing benefits that fasting can provide. Try this natural remedy for yourself, the results are undeniable!

What a great knowledge you shared. Thank you, i never knew fasting could be this beneficial to our body. I have stopped fasting for a while now because of fear of some kind of sickness. But with this i would make it a little habit now.

Yes it can be great, just be careful!

I remember when I fasted for 2 weeks,..food never tasted so good. It's amazing how much your taste buds and stomach react when it hasn't had any food for 2 weeks. I also loved the fact that I was able to do it and only around day 4 did I get hungry, then it was kind of eh, I can go without. My mother freaked though, note to anyone who's parents don't understand fasting,...DO NOT FAST AROUND YOU MOTHER! It will make her worry the whole time and she'll try feeding you endlessly.

I think this is a great post and I have seen intermittent fasting help tons of my clients! I think it is important to try different diets to find which one works best for your body! Every person is different so experiment until you find something that works! :)

There's a doctor named Joel Fuhrman who's been using fasting with his patients for over 20 years to cure "hopeless cases", things like stage 4 cancer and diabetes. My mother followed his work in the 1990s.

His books are called Fasting and Eating for Health, and Eat to Live.

What kind of intermitting fasting are you doing? I am experimenting with a few possible options and for now, I like the 2 days fasting a week best! Although it can be very tough as a foodie so maybe I will try to stick to the daily fasting routine.

It is a great way to lose weight I use this method with my current training and I have lost 10kgs so far.

Thank you for sharing!
