What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a chronic disorder that causes unprovoked, recurrent seizures. A seizure is a sudden rush of electrical activity in the brain. I have a lifelong friend that throughout is life he is traveling with epilepsy, from watching him over the years i decided to make a post about managing this strange disorder.
One of the ways that he manages to have regular seizures is when he his stress, or when people provoke him. In order to avoid having regular seizures he find his own happy place, for example if you watch bad boys the movie, there is a scene where the captain stress is rising he finds him self saying " whoo saw " in order to calm him self down. Well as it relates to my friend he loves trees so he will walk in the garden for hours with is hands behind is back in order to not think about the things that will eventually cause him to have a seizure.
Tracking his seizures for me was easy, because i know all the symptoms and all the things that would cause him to have a seizure so if am there along side him i would do my best to prevent it. however, there are times when am not there with him. I remember a particular time he was home alone and i was by my home, suddenly i just felt like i should go to his house, i knock on the door no one answered so i turn the door knob, it was opened, I smell something burning so i rushed to the kitchen and to my surprised he was on the floor laying in a pool of blood so i rush to the stove first to turn it off, apparently he was cooking and then he fell into a seizure and drop and hit is head on the floor. Epilepsy is a terrible disorder and its hard tracking epilepsy, its necessary for person that have epilepsy to have at least one seizure per month even if you are taking your medication or even tracking it.
His medicines was expensive and his mother had to make sure that he is never out of medication however, she had to ensure that he take his medication and that he takes them on time too. So this was a really hard task.He had a really bad seizure at first, something i have never saw in anyone else before. His seizure response time was very different because after he fell into a seizure, and he his on the ground with white substances in his mouth after that its another story for him because he don't get up and not know what happened but he get up trying to hurt who ever is around him and this process takes a good 10 to 15 minutes before he gets back to being himself and asking what had taken place.
My friend have been living with this disorder for years now, so what am asking everyone that come up on this post to do is pray for him and thanks a lot for taking a look at my post everyone!
