Yesterday was maybe the first day of my life of free women: I decided a year ago to choose the IUD as a contraception and now it's done.
I have always struggled with contraception, and I tried a few...
Lack of comfort with condoms,
Stress due to pulling out (called also coitus interruptus),
Constraints of the pill.
Contraception have often been the origin of stressful situations.
I took the contraceptive pill for a year and a half and I couldn't bear the fact of taking a medication on a daily basis. It just feel strange and wrong to me. Knowing that the hormones of the pill are not so good for us, plus a lot of cancer in my family, I decided to quit it. It happen fairly often to me to forgot it, and I felt slave of my tablets!
The IUD, Intra Uterine Device, appear to me as the easier natural method of contraception. In my country, France, it is a kind of taboo because some doctors still say that it can make you infertile. The IUD is the first method of contraception in the States and Mexico; it is now prove that it is not dangerous.
I choose a copper IUD, completely natural. The copper is spermicide, and for this reason it protect you from being pregnant. Now, my body will manage my cycles naturally and I am so happy with it! I really feel free.
I think the pill can suits some women and it is their personal and entire decision to take it their whole life. Every body make is own choice and we have to respect it.
However I really have the impression that the pharmaceutic laboratories brainwash doctors by telling them it is efficient and not dangerous for financial interest. I am angry against them because the pill can be dangerous and can cause cancers. I am angry that they don't educate girls (and doctors) to other methods better for their health.
You too, if you have tried some alternative experience of contraception, talk about it! Comment here and share your experience.
Remember that there is no perfect method, but there is a method that is good for you :)
